- Strengthening family skills: offering support and counseling to develop parenting skills, parenting strategies and the ability to solve needs. Psychoeducation to broaden the knowledge about ASD and child development.
- Facilitating communication and interaction: enhancing positive interactions and effective communication between adults and the child with ASD through coaching strategies.
- Increasing the child's development: enhancing the child's participation in stimulating routines and achieving inclusive and enriching environments that impact the development of the child with ASD.
- Work on strategies to support behavioral, adaptive, learning, emotional and social difficulties.
- Improve the quality of life: promote the emotional well-being of family members, increase the perception of self-efficacy in family members.
- Influence the positive conception of ASD and improve the socio-community inclusion of the family.
ENLLAÇ is a support, counseling and accompaniment program for families with children or adolescents with a diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).
The objective of the program is to accompany and promote the development of strategies for parents and siblings to facilitate the learning process and the social and community inclusion of the child or adolescent, as well as to improve the quality of life of the family. This support is materialized through home or community visits by a professional specialized in ASD, to help with the most urgent needs of the family, in situations that cause them a high level of stress and in other educational challenges that the family must face.
The program lasts from September to June and the procedure followed with each family is as follows:
- Initial assessment: routine-based interview (Mc Wiliams 2010), clinical-neuropsychological assessment and development of the intervention plan.
- Intervention: a family educator makes 2 monthly visits of 90 minutes in the home setting, or in the community setting if necessary.
- Quality control: continuous training support for the development of good practices, biweekly team meeting for technical follow-up of cases, and quarterly co-visit by the coordinating neuropsychologist.
- Annual follow-up evaluation.
5 family units with a child diagnosed with ASD will receive support for 10 months.
